Judie 's first interest in design was evident in her career choice as an urban planner. With her husband, Fred, she went on to start Fraser Valley Produce, the juice and salad location in Granville Island Public Market. She co-authored the Granville Island Public
Market cookbook in 1985.

She has studied in the Sogestsu school of ikebana for over ten years. Judie has visited Japan and recently acquired a 30 year
collection of ikebana containers, baskets and ceramics.
